The 32-year-old Golden Globe-winning actress, who plays a young Queen Elizabeth in the Netflix phenomenon, admitted that a scene from the royal couple’s wedding night ended up on the cutting room floor.
Speaking to media including Express.co.uk at the BFI & Radio Times Festival in London yesterday, she said: “My favourite scene with Matt Smith was never in the programme, unfortunately. That was our wedding night, that’s all I’ll say!”
The star cheekily added with a laugh: “It was absolutely hilarious for all the wrong reasons.”
She is busy working away with co-star Matt Smith, who portrays her husband Prince Philip, on season two of The Crown.
The latest run of The Crown will tackle the Suez Crisis, the resignation of Prime Minister Anthony Eden and the Queen’s relationship with US President John F. Kennedy and his wife Jackie.
Foy along with co-star Smith are set to be substituted in season three with older actors who will take on the mantle of the royal couple in the later years.
Reflecting leaving the role, which has won her numerous and accolades and propelled her into the spotlight, she said: “I’m substituted. I’m on the bench… I’m not on the bench. I’m just on a different team, I’m unemployed. We’re gone.”
Claire continued: “We always knew – that’s not a shock – when we signed up to it and also, not to be funny, a real plus. As an actor, there’s nothing worse than the sound of seven years.
“I’m sure to some people it sounds amazing. But to us it sounds like seven years of playing the same person and this is a tough job. It’s a good nine months – and that’s a lot of your life you sign over to it.
“So, I will miss it so much and we all will and we all love each other so much. But I just can’t wait to see where it goes. I just think it’s amazing.”
However, it does not look like Claire will have to wait long to find out what is coming next, The Crown producer Suzanne Mackie admitted that a young Camilla Parker Bowles would be making an appearance in season three.
The Crown season 2 will air on Netflix later this year.
