Plot Outline:

The film chronicles the journey of 14th century knights who are charged with bringing a girl, who’s suspected of being the witch responsible for the origin of the Black Plague, to a monastery for exorcism.

Nicolas Cage plays a knight charged with exiling the sorceress. “He has come back from the Crusades and has lost his faith in the church and in God,” says producer Charles Roven (The Dark Knight).

The witch is played by Claire Foy (British TV’s Little Dorrit). Ron Perlman (Hellboy) co-stars.

“Wherever the witch has gone, the plague has followed,” Roven says. “So they need to transport her to the mountains and perform a ritual that will lift whatever enchantment she has on the land.”

Season of the Witch was directed by Dominic Sena (Kalifornia, Gone in 60 Seconds, Swordfish) and shot in November and December 2008 in Austria and Hungary.

Claire’s Role:

A girl suspected of being the witch who caused the Black Plague.
